Christians and Israel - Dr. Richard Booker
Christian Zionist Organizations

Shalom! We are living in exciting times when Christians are awakening to an awareness of the Hebraic/Jewish roots of their faith, a desire to establish relationships of love and understanding between Christians and Jews, and an active role in supporting Israel.
This “divine wake up call” has been heard by millions of Christians around the world. In the last 20 years, a number of Christian Zionist organizations have formed for the purpose of educating and mobilizing these Christians to stand with Israel and against anti-Semitism.
Unlike traditional Christian churches, Christian Zionist organizations are non-proselytizing. While each has their own emphasis, they all share the common goal of blessing Israel and the Jewish people. They often work together relationally to compliment each others efforts.
In the next few articles, I will be writing about some of the leading Christian Zionist organizations. Forgive me for starting with my own, the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies (IHCS). Peggy and I have been Christian ministers for almost thirty years. During this time, I have written a number of books, and we have traveled extensively to churches and conferences speaking on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people. Our ministry and lives took a turn in 1997 when we established IHCS.
IHCS is a non-proselytizing, non-denominational, non-profit Christian Zionist educational organization dedicated to encouraging relationships between Christians and Jews. We do this through education, mutual respect, and working together for the common good of both communities.
Our focus at IHCS is educating Christians in their lost Judeo-Christian heritage and the history of anti-Semitism, establishing relationships of unconditional love, understanding, and mutual respect between Christians and Jews, and giving comfort and support to the people of Israel.
While we understand that Jews and Christians have theological differences, we don’t have to agree on theology in order to love one another. And if we cannot love one another, what good is our theology.
Our very first meeting to announce our existence was held at Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) on April 3, 1997. This was our way of saying we wanted to reach out to the Jewish community. Since then, we have taken 700 Christians through the Museum. Many of you have been to our annual Kristallnacht Memorial.
From September through May, we conduct a monthly meeting attended by 500-800 Christians who come to learn and celebrate our shared love for Israel and the Jewish people.
We have formal classes where we teach the Hebraic roots of Christianity, the history of anti-Semitism, and the role of Israel in the Bible, as well as post-biblical history, the modern state of Israel, and current events in the Middle East. We have had about 500 adult students since beginning our work in 1997.
Peggy and I lead yearly tours to Israel (over 20 since 1987) where I have been a speaker to 5,000 Christians from 100 nations. We help Jews make Aliyah, give social assistants to new immigrants and help support like-minded organizations.
