Christians and Israel -
Dr. Richard Booker

Christians For Israel

Shalom! This is the second article in a series I am writing about leading Christian Zionist organizations and what they are doing around the world to support Israel and fight anti-Semitism. Last week I wrote about my own organization, the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies. In this article, I want to tell you about Christians For Israel (CFI).

CFI was started 25 years ago in the Netherlands. They now have offices in 7 countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States.

The vision of CFI is to inform and educate Christians regarding the Lord’s purposes for Israel and the Jewish people. His purposes are to bless the Jewish people and cause Israel to fulfill her destiny to be a light to the nations.

While it seems as if most of the nations have evil intentions towards Israel, the Lord God of Israel has only good intentions. While the UN (Usually Nothing) passes resolution after resolution against Israel, the God of Israel has His own resolutions.

Adonai says to His people Israel, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, … thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Yes, Israel has a great future and a hope. Christian Zionist organizations like CFI want to do their part in sharing this hope with Israel.

CFI encourages Christians to bless Israel and the Jewish people by supporting them financially, morally and spiritually. They believe that shared love for Israel should unite Bible-believing Christians around the world to speak and act as one voice on behalf of Israel.

CFI has many activities to support their vision. For example, they publish a newspaper called the “Jerusalem Connection” in which they encourage Christians around the world to understand their responsibilities to bless Israel and the Jewish people. I’m grateful to CFI for translating my book, “Why Christians Should Support Israel” into German.

Because the Torah teaches us to show Chesed to those in need, CFI is involved in numerous mercy projects in Israel and worldwide such as helping bring Jews home from the former Soviet Union, working with terror victims in Israel, and assisting orphans, widows, and new immigrants.

CFI encourages Christians to repent of past anti-Semitism and to speak out when Jews are being slandered and persecuted. They take an active role for Israel, Jerusalem and Jews around the world. As such, CFI stands for the following:

  • Support for Israel as the national, ancestral and God-covenanted omeland of the Jewish people.
  • Recognition of the Jewish people as the primary heirs of the covenants of God.
  • An understanding that Christians are adopted children of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and as such are brothers and sisters with the Jewish people.
  • Actively exposing anti-Semitism.
  • Opposing the false teaching that Christians have replaced the Jews as the covenant people of God.
  • Encouraging Christians to extend Chesed to Jews because of the Christian debt to the Jewish people.
