Media Withholds Truth About
Russian Weapons Sales
To Iran - By Bill Wilson

By Bill Wilson, KIN Senior Analyst

WASH—July 31—KIN-- Slanted news coverage of the Middle East continues as liberal media reports from a factual basis rather than the truth. Case in point is two stories about weapons sales. One by the Jerusalem Post, which accurately describes the threat of Russian, weapons sales to the largest terrorist sponsoring nation in the world—Iran. The article reports that Russia plans to sell long-range fighter jets to Iran, which would enhance the terrorist state’s offensive capabilities against Israel. In addition, Russia is planning to sell Iran in-flight fueling planes to extend the jets’ range thousands of miles more. The article reports that Russia is competing with the U.S. for arms sales in the region.

Meanwhile, Associated Press reports that Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammed Al Hosseini says a proposed U.S. sale of $20 billion in advanced weaponry to Saudi Arabia would undermine security and stability in the Middle East because it would enhance the striking ability of the Saudi military. Hosseini charged that the United States was inflaming tensions in the region in order to increase its weapons sales. The story says that U.S. officials, who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to speak to the news media, said that the sales to Saudi Arabia and others, such as Egypt and Israel, were designed to offset the Iranian influence in the region, but that was the last part of the story.

Whenever there is a weapons sale by the United States to Israel, for example, the news media reports reaction from the surrounding Arab states. It is always negative. And these stories are mostly written from the standpoint that the Arab states see Israel as the aggressor in the Middle East. They rarely are written from the point of view that Israel must protect itself from hostile Arab enemies. It seems that when Russia or China sell advanced weapons to terrorist sponsors such as Syria or Iran, the news media never reports that Russia is supplying sponsors of terrorism with advanced weapons. They usually report the story without little reaction from the West or Israel as if the weapons were defense against Israeli aggression.

The only time in modern history that Israel has attacked Islamic Arab positions is in defense of either ongoing terrorist attacks or in the face of imminent attacks by Arab nations. Israel is not the aggressor, neither the terrorist. But the news media’s biased reporting rarely, if ever, reminds the world that Iran, Syria and others are terrorist sponsors and that Russia is supplying them with weapons. Facts and truth are two different things. Facts are the essentials that are reported about an event. The truth is how the facts actually impact people. Ephesians 5:6 says, “Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”
