The 2020 Election, the 2017, 2020, & 2024 Eclipses, and the Need for Repentance

In 2017, I wrote a commentary that discussed some of the significance of the 2017 total solar eclipse and what it might mean for the United States and also the peace process in Israel. That original commentary can be viewed at this link.

In August 2017, Anne Graham Lotz wrote a post discussing the warning of judgment that the eclipse may be symbolizing.

The article included a link to sermon from July 2017 where Steve Cioccolanti discussed some of the possible implications of the 2017 and 2024 total solar eclipses over the USA and what they might mean.

In June 2017, Mark Biltz also discussed the possible significance of the 2017 and 2024 eclipses and what they might indicate for America.

One possibility that Steve Cioccolanti mentioned in 2017 was the possibility of a pandemic. Looking back now over what has happened since then, it certainly seems the 2017 eclipse foreshadowed the coronavirus. In 1918, a great eclipse also crossed America which had a very similar path when compared to the 2017 eclipse. The 1918 eclipse occurred at the time that the world was facing the Spanish Flu pandemic outbreak.
Additionally, what is significant about total solar eclipses is that the sun's hidden outer, the corona, can be seen. It seems the appearance of the solar corona in this eclipse may have been symbolic of the coming coronavirus.
Mark Biltz discussed how the August 21, 2017 eclipse happened at the new moon that indicates the beginning of the month of Elul and the symbolism of the need for repentance. Additionally, he noted that the 2017 eclipse occurred on the same calendar day as the August 21, 1914 total solar eclipse that took place over Europe which was connected to World War 1. Even more significant, both of the eclipses in 1914 and 2017 corresponded to the new moon that indicates the beginning of the month of Elul.
More recently, Steve Cioccolanti pointed out that on the day the electoral college representatives in the various states were casting their votes on December 14, 2020 in the US election, a total solar eclipse also occurred (even though the path of totality did not pass directly over the United States). But it stills seems to have some symbolism, because it occurred exactly in the mid-point (1211 days in either direction) from the two great America eclipses of 2017 and 2024.
So, what is the significance of this as it relates to the current election? It is interesting to note that the 2017 eclipse occurred in the first year of the presidential term that began in 2017 and that the 2024 eclipse occurs in the fourth year of the presidential term that begins in 2021. Additionally, with a total solar eclipse occurring at the exact halfway point in 2020 on the same day the electoral college was voting in the various states, it seems there is a significant symbolism here.
A lot is riding on what happened in this election and what the outcome is. God seems to have given America a period of time to repent before things potentially get more severe in the consequences and judgments that may come on the nation. Even though the nation and the world for that matter have already been shaken by the coronavirus, more challenges may be in the future if America does not repent. If the United States has a president serving in the next term that pushes for policies and laws that go against the Bible, the potential for coming judgment increases. The significance of the August 21 date of the 2017 eclipse seems to possibly be a warning that if America does not repent both individually and nationally (including turning away from laws that are contrary to the will of God), that there could be a significant military conflict or war coming in the relatively near future, perhaps in this decade.
We need to continue to pray for our nation. God can still intervene to make sure the outcome is what He wants, despite the way things look. If we have the wrong leader, it will only make things worse and continue to lead the United States further down the path of God's judgment.
