After getting to know some of the young women who work at the coffee shop we frequent, one of them caught my attention, because I wondered if she would be open to the Gospel. I had already spoken with two of them, and they had prayed and believed in Christ.
I was hesitant to speak to this one young woman because she was rather quiet. I wanted a moment with her when there would be no customers at the counter. God gave me that moment. It was morning, and usually several customers are in line to order their coffee. This day, however, no one was at the counter except the cashier who happened to be that one young woman to whom I had hoped to speak about Jesus.
I approached her and asked her if the school semester had started yet and what her field of study was. She said her studies were in social work. I said, “What a blessing. You are in what God’s heart is in, because he cares so much about people. You will need his help to care for others.”
She responded, “Yes, I will.”
I asked her if she knew God. She said, “I used to go to church with my parents because my uncle went there.” She mentioned the name of the Catholic church. I asked her, “Do you know God personally? Have you ever asked Him to be your personal God and Savior?” She responded, “No.” I asked her, “Would you like to?” She smiled gently and replied, “Yes, I would.”
“Okay, let’s pray,” I encouraged.
She looked sweetly into my eyes, as we prayed together. She believed in Jesus, repented, and gave her life to Him. I joyfully said to her, “Now you have His guidance and direction to help you understand and help others. She smiled with amazing joy!
As we were leaving, I looked back to observe her. She had her arms raised and was rejoicing with a huge smile. I was so surprised to see that this quiet, young adult woman was not shy about her encounter with her Savior, Jesus!
The next time I saw her, I asked her if she had a Bible. She didn’t. So I gave her one. I instructed her as to where to start reading. She received the Bible with a big smile and joy.
“Abba, Father, You are listening to the quiet voice in the heart that of souls that are searching to know Your Son.”
“Messiah, You are listening to the soul whom You are drawing to Yourself in Your steadfast love.”
“Thank You, Holy Spirit for causing me to Thank you for causing me stand still and wait on you.”
