By Claudia Koenig:
We boarded a flight in Washington, D.C. to California. As soon as we were settled in our seats, a young woman asked if she could take the seat beside me. Though I hadn’t taken a look at her, the thought of my heart was, “This is a good one, God.” She settled into her seat.
We started a conversation about our reasons for our travel to California. She then shared some of her life experiences. She had a background in Christian Science and the Presbyterian Church. We then talked about her career ambitions. She is in the highest level of intelligence. She had, previously, run for Congress and lost. Her heart was broken. We talked about the pain of loss as tears rolled down her face. She had been in Washington, D.C. seeking employment with the new administration, but there was no assurance of a soon possibility due to the heavy schedule of the new administration.
I began to talk to her about Jesus, His love, the price of His blood for her salvation, and He being the One who had the plan of her life. Her heart was very ready to receive more about God’s truth. She asked several questions about knowing His direction and guidance. I directed the answers in knowing and serving Him, not serving the administration.
I said to her, “Let’s pray and make sure your salvation is in Christ.” She immediately bowed her head as we held hands and prayed, asking Christ to be her Saviour. She repented of her sins and asked God to use her life for His glory.
I then talked with her about salvation, reading the Bible, and having a prayer life. We talked more about knowing God, his direction, and guidance through His Word and prayer.
I opened the Daily Light devotional and let her read it. She said, “It is not about money. It is about the blood of Jesus.” I said, “Yes, you have not been bought with money, influence, or position, but by the blood of the Son of God, Jesus. That was a high price for you. You must not serve man, but the living God.”
Before we got off the flight, she looked at me and said, “God knows everything. He even knows what plane we are going to get on and who is going to sit beside us.” We smiled!
A day ago we arrived back in D.C. from California. Much to my surprise, I had an email from her. She wrote to say that she had been with a friend who asked her if she knew about World Watch Daily. She told her that she had just sat beside me on a flight. She wrote that our conversations helped open her eyes to see God as her boss, not Trump. She is now looking to God’s direction and turning over her job search to Him. She added that she is now getting up at 5:15 a.m. to have Bible reading and prayer time with God. She writes, “I have a 5:15 appointment with my boss!”
“Abba, Father, God of heaven and earth. You are the Majesty on high. There is no other God, but You. You look on man and know his heart. In Your mercy and loving-kindness, You answered the heart of man’s search for You by giving Your Son as Your living sacrificial lamb for forgiveness of sins.”
“Jesus, Son of God, You sit at the right hand of the Father, forever interceding for man. You have heard someone’s prayers for this young woman and have answered her by revealing her need for assured salvation in You.”
“Holy Spirit, thank you for guiding us into God’s plan to the day and the flight to take just because God wanted to meet this young woman and answer her broken heart’s cry for knowing and giving her life plan to Jesus.”
