During our time in Jerusalem, Israel, we were with a friend who is a former U.S. government official.
A year ago, while in Israel, our friend had a health emergency and was rushed to the emergency room. A top Israeli doctor who cared for her became friends with her, and they have stayed in contact for the past year.
Our friend invited the doctor to be her guest at the prayer event that we were attending in Jerusalem.
Leaders and pastors gathered to pray scriptures for Jerusalem. There was talk everywhere about God’s love for Israel and the Jewish people. A band, in which the lead singer was a young adult, sang the Psalms.
In the foyer of the place where the event was being held, my friend greeted many people, while her doctor guest stood nearby.
I approached the doctor to speak with her a little. I told her about Yeshua. I shared my personal testimony with her. She said, “I have chills all over me!” I responded, “It is your turn now. Would you like to pray and ask the Son of God to be your Savior?” She looked very seriously into my eyes and said, “Yes.” I asked, “Are you ready?” Since I was talking with an Israeli-Jew, I wanted to make sure she knew what she was about to do.
In the midst of people talking and my friend greeting people, this young Israeli woman, who is the head of emergency of one of the hospitals in Israel, held my hands and we prayed as she believed in the Son of God, Yeshua, and asked Him to be her personal Savior.
Afterwards, we hugged tightly. She had the most amazing smile of assurance concerning what she had just prayed.
Our friend then approached us, and I told her, “Meet your new sister in Christ!” The doctor looked at her with a huge smile. My friend dropped open her mouth, looked at me, and asked, “Claudia! How? . . . when? . . .” She didn’t finish speaking her thoughts. She hugged and hugged her Israeli doctor friend. The three of us then embraced in the Lord in celebration.
We then went out to lunch. As we were walking, the doctor said, “I have never met people like you. How come we do not know that you exist? I have never seen an event like that! All I have known all my life is that we are hated and persecuted and killed. We do not know that you people exist and that you love us.”
I told her there are many of us all over the world. She was amazed! I then gave her a New Testament in Hebrew and instructed her to start reading the book of Matthew.
She opened the Bible and marked where she was to start.
This Israeli doctor was so wondrously joyful and excited to have met her Savior and people who love the Jews and Israel.
We introduced her to other believers who could help her find a place of fellowship. Each of these believers were astonished that a young Israeli-Jewish woman had just believed in Yeshua.
We made sure that a couple of leaders who are believers would stay in contact with her. They embraced her in God’s love, prayed with her, and gave her contacts for a church she could attend to meet other believers in the area where she lives.
I thought about her saying that they did not know that people like us exist and realized that she represents the majority of young adults throughout Israel who do not know that we believers exist and that Yeshua, the Son of God is the Savior, the Messiah.
“Abba, Father, all things are possible with You! Those whom You draw to Your Son are ready to confess Him as Your Son and Savior!”
“Yeshua, Messiah, there you were in the midst of the event, looking at this young Israeli woman whom You had called by name to know You! You knew a year ago that this young Israeli woman would meet the former government official and that she would be invited to the event. I could hardly make it to Israel for this event! I was so attacked in body that I didn’t know what was going to happen to me!”
“Holy Spirit, with Your help, in the name of Jesus, You raised me from my condition to make it to Jerusalem for just ONE SOUL!”
“Jesus, You move mountains to get someone across the ocean to Your land to get to just ONE SOUL whom you want in heaven with You! Glory to Your Name!
