For some time, I have been sharing bits of God’s love with a young girl who works at a coffee shop. She always looked weary and tired in heart. She was not going to be an easy soul to speak to about God. I had to be very wise. From the moment I saw her, I loved her and I so wanted her to have eternal salvation.
When I would ask her how she had been, she would talk about her school studies and the intensity of them. I would tell her, “You know, you are going to need help with that. Do you know who can help you?”
She would then ask, “Who?”
I would say to her, “God.”
Each time I would tell her, “Talk with Him. His name is Jesus. He will listen. He knows your heart.” Each time she would respond with silence and just look at me.
But I knew that her heart was taking in God’s love for her. I also knew that God had chosen her to know Him. I had to be patient and careful as to how to share His love with her.
Once, I told her that she was a very special girl. I explained that God called many, but He chose some to draw close to Him and know him. I told her that she was one of those special people. She drew closer to me in conversation. Each time we would talk a little more.
I had seen her off and on, but had attempted to speak to her again. So now when I did see her again, I asked about her studies. She said that she was in the last two weeks of her course work and that it was very intense at that time.
I told her, “You know who to call on, right?” She nodded her head saying yes. I asked her, “Do you know His name?”
She whispered, “Yes.”
I then asked her, “What is it?”
She whispered, “Jesus.” Due to her being at work, she had to be careful about our conversation.
Afterward, I went outside of the coffee shop to sit and drink my tea. As I sat there, I thought, “Wait a minute, when I first met this girl, she didn’t even know about God. She has just now confessed the name of Jesus. I have to go back in there to pray with her for her salvation.” So I quickly got up and hurried back in.
There weren’t any customers. I was so thankful to the Lord. I was not sure how to approach her with this. I took the risk as she came up to the cash register and asked her, “Have you ever prayed for Jesus to be your personal Savior?”
Unsure of her words, she kind of looked away and responded, “Yes.”
I asked her, “When was that?”
She said, “I do it all the time.” I knew that was because of the bits of the love of Christ that I had been sharing with her, but that she needed to understand salvation in the Son of God.
I then told her, “We are going to pray so that you won’t have to do this all the time. You will be assured that you belong to Him, that you have eternal salvation in Jesus.” She nodded her head.
She looked straight into my eyes and began to pray with me. She whispered her heart’s prayer in believing in Jesus as her Savior, asked for forgiveness of her sins, and gave her life to Him for His glory.
Right after, she looked at me with such sweetness. Unable to move from her position, she just stood there and kept smiling. I told her, “Now He will be very close to you. Talk with Him all the time. Ask and ask and ask. He will answer you.” I knew that her heart was full of need. She gave a look of assurance. Her Savior loved and cared about her. She looked fully content and comforted. I was amazed at her sweet assurance.
I am now preparing a Bible, CD, and information on a church that she may visit. I can’t wait to see her again! Praise the name of the Holy Savior, Jesus.
“Abba, Father, for this soul, I had to share the love of Your Son in morsels. I had to learn how to do that, as I waited for You to draw this soul to You.”
“Jesus, How sweet it was to share a little of You at a time with this young girl. I was unsure if she would ever be open to believe in You. I so wanted her to, but I just did not know what to do.”
“Holy Spirit of God, thank You for helping me wait on God to do the work in this heart, as I fed her soul with God’s love. Now it is not morsels that she feeds on, but the whole living bread of the Son of God by whom she is now filled with God’s love, Jesus!”
