We were in a different town in the D.C. area than what I am used to. We stopped at a grocery store. As I looked around at the people, I thought, “Lord, this area is new to me. I am not sure how to go about telling about You in this store.”
As my husband was checking out the items, I looked behind me. There was a young girl with a very sweet smile. Her eyes looked a little sad.
My husband proceeded to leave. I just had to go tell that young girl how pretty her smile was. So, I approached her and said, “You a have beautiful smile.” She thanked me. I asked her if she celebrated Christmas.
She said, “Of course!”
I responded, “Are you a Christian?”
She said, “I am a Catholic.”
I asked her, “Have you ever asked Jesus to be your personal Savior?”
I was surprised at her answer. “No, but I wish I could.”
Right away I said, “Would you like to do that now?”
She smiled and said, “Yes, I would!”
“Let’s pray,” I said. As we prayed, she believed in Jesus as her personal Savior, asked Him to forgive her for her sins, and gave her life to Him.
Afterward, with that beautiful smile, she exclaimed, “I am so thankful! Thank you! I needed this!” We both celebrated with great joy!
I asked her if she had a Bible. She said that she did. I told her to start reading in the book of John. She said, “This will help me so much!”
I hurried to the car and grabbed a New Testament, DVD, and CD. I rushed back into the store and handed them to her.
I told her that celebrating Christmas will be very special to her and that I would continue to check on her. She gave that beautiful, sweet smile, but her eyes were now filled with hope and joy!
“Abba Father, that happened so fast—and when I thought that in this different area, I just didn’t know how to approach the people there.”
“Jesus, what a beautiful smile You gave that young girl. Just for YOU! Because of that sweet smile, I approached her. And she belongs to You! I celebrate her life for You!”
“Holy Spirit, thank You for helping me to approach that young girl. I couldn’t have done it without You. You knew that God was drawing her to His Son.”
