A friend was visiting from out of the state. She wanted to take a look at a store for a particular item.
In the store, she went about looking at the products. I walked along an aisle and heard a couple of young women speaking in Spanish. One was one of the store’s employees. She was straightening out the items on a shelf.
I said, “I love to hear Spanish. It is a beautiful language.” She asked me where I was from. I then asked her where she was from. She was a very sweet young women and her interest in speaking with me, as I with her was a delight.
Afterwards, I selected a couple of items and went to pay for them. When I approached the cashier, there was the young woman with whom I had exchanged a few words. I was so surprised that I was lost for words. My thoughts were, “How did she appear here at this time?”
I was silent for a moment. Then I said, “Here you are again!” She smiled, “Yes, it’s me again. My thoughts went blank, “Ahh…I looked at her nametag and I thought, “What can I say?” Ahh….”Your name has the first part of the angel Gabriel in the Bible.” She smiled, “Yes, some people have told me that.”
I asked her, do you know Jesus? She shyly smiled, but did not say a word. “Have you ever prayed to God to know Him?” I asked her. “I do every day.” She said. My response to hear was, “Let’s pray so that you may know Jesus and know that you will be in heaven and not have to pray every day about that. You will be assured of your salvation. No one will know what we are talking about or are praying. Would you like to pray? She looked at my eyes, “Yes, I would.” She said very sweetly.
She continued to wrap my items as we prayed. She took the role of no one knowing what we were saying by keeping up her cashier responsibilities, wrapping and taking my payment, and looking into my eyes often.
She gave her life to Jesus! She was full of joy and thanksgiving! I was still so surprised! We then talked about reading the Bible.
“Abba Father, so unexpectedly, this young woman was beside me and then in front of me. You caught me so by surprise!”
“Jesus, Living Word of God, how You were pursuing this soul for yourself! I was so unprepared to talk about You because I was suffering in body. But, You are greater in me than I realize. You, Living Word inside me must always be about what You are, The Word Who is alive and in pursuit of souls! When it comes to a soul, You put a person whom the Father is drawing to You right in front of me, even when I can’t speak due to pain, You make sure that a soul is not missed!
“Holy Spirit, Thank you for giving me the strength that I needed to follow through with what God was doing in pursuit of this soul.”
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13:23
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
