We were at Home Depot looking for carpet padding to use as a sound barrier for our new studio. While looking for an attendant to assist us, I went behind a wall to get the attention of two young attendants. One of them turned to give us his attention, and we asked him where we could find carpet padding. He took us to it, but when I saw the material, I knew it was not going to work for what we needed.
I then explained to the young man what we needed it for. He said, “I know exactly what you need. I use it myself for the same thing. I play instruments, and I have to use it for a sound barrier.” He began to explain how it worked and told us of other sound barriers that he uses.
Little did we know that not only were we being helped by a store attendant but also by one who knew exactly what product we needed to block sound! We were so surprised!
He informed us of other material that could be ordered online. As we listened and took notes, I noticed his name on his apron. It was spelled differently than usual. I asked why his name was spelled as it was. He gave his name and said that he had cut it short and added a letter to it to keep it for his real name.
This young man had a very sweet disposition. His eyes were full of youth! As I observed him, I asked him if he knew Jesus. He said that he knew God. I asked him if he had ever talked with Him about His Son, Jesus. He said that he talked to Him a lot. I then said to him, “Have you ever asked Jesus to be your own personal and intimate Savior?”
He said, “No, I have not.”
I asked him, “Would you like to, so that you may know that you will be in heaven?”
He looked into my eyes and seriously said, “Yes, I would.”
“Would you like to pray right now?”
His eyes grew more serious. “Yes,” he responded.
I took a couple of steps forward. We looked directly into each other’s eyes as we prayed. He was very careful about all that he was confessing, as he believed and received Jesus as his Savior!
After we finished praying, he immediately—with excitement and joy—asked, “Can I hug you? This is so good. Thank you!” We hugged and thanked the Lord.
I then asked him if he had a Bible. He smiled and affirmed, “Yes, I have several.” I shared with him where to start reading to learn of his Savior, how much He loved him, and what He had done for him.
He took note of this, and we both left with a hug and a smile! JESUS, Savior of Souls!
“Lord, Light of the World, how merciful You are! How You pursue the lost! How You use everything in our lives to lead and guide us to the one whom You are calling to Yourself because of Your love on the cross. Thank You for Your mercy and grace that strengthens us to go about Your day that You have made—not knowing what You have ahead, but that, daily, You are after souls! Help us to walk in the Light that others may come out of darkness and know You as their Savior. Jesus, Savior of the World, this I pray in Your Name. Amen.”
